FIXation

Re-loved fashion, crafts and homewares

FIXation is an inspirational project with a retail shop and workshop on York Street, Russell. Its purpose is to prevent fabric from going to landfill by teaching and sharing skills to create garments and accessories that are useful and attractive, made from ‘nothing of value’.

It’s totally run by volunteers and all proceeds go to the local community.

Helpers Needed

You don’t have to be able to sew. Your help in the shop, ironing, cutting or sorting would be very much appreciated – even for a couple of hours per week. Please pop into the shop for a chat or email us at fixation@resilientrussell.nz

  • Run by volunteers working for the environment and the community
  • Mending, redesigning, crafting, making and selling textile goods
  • Educating the next generation in sowing and mending to prolong the life of garments and textile goods
  • We are all volunteers and all profits are donated back into local community groups and projects

FIXation Mission and Values

  • We divert textile waste from entering landfill
  • Our team of expert creative volunteers rescue, repair, re-design and repurpose donated items into attractive products
  • We sell quality pre-loved items to prolong their useful life and to raise funds for the local community
  • In the process, we raise awareness of the environmental benefits of slow fashion vs fast fashion
  • We educate people on how to repair their items other than throw them away (and offer a mending service for a $20 donation for most items)
